Please feel free to add your how-to here, e.g., how to setup the hardware so that it'll work in puppy, trouble-shooting, faq, useful links, etc.
If you don't know html, you can just input the text here and someone (me or others who know html) shall format it for you. Keep tips short and clear so that newbies can understand you easily ... I know nothing about hardware, you can teach me by writing here :D
By the way,
* it's easy to make a list

How do I enable Framebuffer
Certain video hardware, esp as found in laptops, requires Framebuffer to function. Other distros such as Knoppix have long been good at supporting this. Puppy versions before 1.0.7 do not include Framebuffer in the standard release. It has to be added, which is not easy. Puppy 1.0.7 still has the old vesa but also adds Xorg which does support Framebuffer. Hurray!

... To get an 800x600 screen on an ibm thinkpad 760
Finally the screen came up in 640x480, though I know it is 800x 600
The 760XL has only 1024 KB of video RAM, and can provide either 8-bit
accelerated video or 16-bit non-accelerated video at 800x600 on the
built-in display. To use 16-bit video at 800x600, you need to explicitly
disable video acceleration in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and set
Option "
NoAccel" "True"; otherwise, X will insist on starting up at
640x480 resolution."
In puppy you edit the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf and set
Option "
NoAccel" "True"
