The internet was first created as an international network of computers without a single point of failure. In most emergency situations, telephone capacity quickly fills and TV information is not quickly updatable by those involved in the incident directly. Therefore in a disaster, it makes sense to use the internet to provide contact between those who survive the incident and the outside world. For this purpose, puppy linux is being adapted to allow emergency computer clusters to be created. The aim is to provide access to information on the crisis for those people within and outside the region, a means of communicating with and tracking people who are trapped in a disaster zone, and organising support within the region affected with the easiest system to use and maintain possible.
The idea is that support for those administering the cluster and those using it are available online and on the cd.
