OK, I keep getting links to new pages everytime I use a wiki-like name, something with an uppercase letter in the middle (and no space before the letter), just like RaffyM (my identity). Now, so that you wont be disappointed when you click on that link, am writing this (and avoiding the use of uppercase letters to avoid creating new links, ha ha :).

My name is raffy mananghaya, a professor of management in the philippines (other people call this place manila, but that is just the former capital city, not the country). I also teach technology, but that is just work, what I really love is playing with technology, and my work background is in social/ development projects.

I tried since 2004 to find the simplest infotech solutions for elearning, and by early 2005, I have concluded that puppy is the client solution for this. So I dived in and joined the group.

In July 19, 2005, some people (one of whom was freedom - a person, am avoiding capitals, remember?) were asking about the procedure for hard disk installation of puppy. And i wondered, "this must have been done before", and sure enough, links were shown by those who replied, but those links mostly contained text. So i decided to help with a tutorial using images, and this was quickly adopted by users.

You can find the tutorials here.

As a colleague in this wiki, what can I offer you? Maybe a tropical vacation for unbelievable prices (something like $100 for a three-day scuba diving expedition!), or even free homestay in one of the villages. What do you have to offer in return? Maybe bring some puppies - yes, resurrected (refurbished) pcs for a school or two. You see, old pcs may be everywhere in your country but can not find their way to where they are needed because of cost. They get taxed when they are moved! But in this country, there is a "balikbayan box" plan, meaning, boxes with goodies from overseas are let in without questions or taxes, expecially when sent by overseas residents (called filipinos).

So if a tropical vacation is within your interest, you can try finding a low-fare seat to manila (usually via northwest airlines), book your flight, and let us handle your itinerary. You may have to pay for inter-island trips, but residence will be mostly free, to be offered by villagers. Are these villages like paradise? Well, some sort of, as the people there are not yet too commercialized. And the vilagers speak english and are very friendly to guests.

You may find a local (a filipino) in your area. Just try visiting your church during sundays and find some jolly, brown-to-fair skinned people speaking english (with hispanic or american accent), and you will easily find your way to one of the many villages in the philippines.

Will i be interested to do just that if i were you? Yes, of course, but my work here already lets me travel around a lot.

My email is raffymn at yahoo dot com. Thanks!
