About PupGet

There are three ways to install apps in puppy: PupGet, DotPup, manually Compiling or installing. This page explains PupGet

The PupGet package manager has a list of the official Puppy packages. By official I mean: They were created by Barry and have been thoroughly tested by many users.

Some user contributed packages are also provided in this format. Those will not apear in the list but the installation is very similar

Here are the instructions to install them.

1) Open the Puppy Package Manager located under the 'Setup' menu.
2) Select the PupGet package manager.
3.1) If you are installing an official package, select "Install or Remove Packages" and follow the instructions in the screen.
3.2) If you are installing a contributed package select "Install Alien Package" and follow the instructions in the screen.

Easy, isn't it?

The official PupGet files are located on a server on the internet, so... How do you install them in a disconnected computer? That's easy too!

1) download them from the official ibiblio.org FTP directory,
2) copy them to CD or any other media
3) Take them to the disconnected computer and install them as an Alien Package.

If you want to uninstall an application installed as a PupGet, just open the PupGet package manager and follow the instructions on the screen.

Barry has a web page that has a lot of technical info on Puppy Linux's package management which has a section on the PupGet package manager and PupGet packages.

PuppianL has created another Wiki page about this topic, also!
