To change your mouse:

Log out and turn off machine
Unplug your mouse and plug in the new one
Turn on your machine to boot Puppy

If your mouse is the same type it will work
if not, press ctrl + alt + backspace and follow the instructions
which are to type:

rm /etc/mousedevice
xwin
