First, ensure you are not attempting to use a live cd with
OpenOffice.org which requires lots of memory.
OpenOffice.org is included on Miniys (aka Muppy),
PuppyPro, Tmxxine, Rudy and some editions of Fire Hydrant.
Instead use applications such as Abiword and Gnumeric, which are included on the regular Puppy,
TeenPup, Fatfree, Meanpup, ecoPup,
eboxPup, Pizzapup, Lighthouse, NOP, Minipup and
XPuppyPro.
We recommend creating a Linux swap partition for users with less than 64Mb of RAM.
The reason for this is that Puppy loads all its files into memory (thus freeing up the CDROM for other use) and if there is not enough space in RAM, Puppy will load extra files into the swap partition and page them in and out as required.
To create a swap partition, run gParted.
In a situation where there is not enough RAM - Puppy will act as a live CD and run programs from the CD thus requiring that the CD be left in the CDROM.
