CAPS LOCK Key Abnormalities
Problem: Must press [Caps Lock] on PS/2 keyboards multiple times to get it to switch off. [Scroll Lock] also responds.
Probable cause: "something to do with the X keyboard extension (xkb)"
Applies to Versions: at least 1.0.4-1.0.7
(This problem seems to be limited to Xvesa video mode. Starting with Puppy 1.0.7, Xorg video is included as a standard option, and does not have this problem.)

The file uncompressor in Puppy WILL open .tar.gz archives, but

Workaround: gzip/gunzip are available from the command line?
Pup 1.0.7 is using XArchive, a brilliant program.
Mark Ulrich has released it as a
DotPup, if you need it in a hurry.
See the Developer News page -- it will be well integrated in 1.0.7.

Pmount is not working right.
When a hard drive contains multiple partitions, it displays the size of the first one shown properly, but all the rest are shown to be the same size!
Workarounds:
For pmount install the service-pack

There is also "Partview" in the "Control Panel" menu -- which also will work properly after applying the service patch.

Mouse Stops Working
When you use the
Mouse Wizard to change the type of mouse, it will sometimes suddenly stop working.
Workaround: Shut down X Windows to a command line:
By using the special key combination CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE you can abort out of X Windows to a command prompt. Then enter the command
# rm /etc/mousedevice
to remove your current mouse choice. Then enter
# xwin jwm
to start the X Windows GUI back up. It will ask you for new mouse choices -- Mouse Changed -- Success!
